A "flip flop" is a plastic or rubber shoe that slips on your foot with
a V strip on top and a sole on the bottom. The V goes between your big
toe and the next one, which holds the shoe on. When you walk, it goes
"flip flop", "flip flop". Hence the name.
Once you get used to the thong between your toes, they are comfortable.
