Mr Dunn,
I had thought very seriously of joining this Society but have
built up a series of reservations because of the nature of some local
correspondence. In fairness to yourself and the entire Executive Council I
believe that I should state my reasons:
1. Can all the Membership have ready access to your notice in the library?
2. 1 to 2 months after the Executive decision the Members in total are told
of their decision. What if the majority of Members go against the
Executive's decision. It is the first time I have known of an Executive to
go out on a thin branch and then proceed to saw the limb between them and
the trunk.
3. It appears strange that overseas Members have no voting rights which is
contrary to each of the societies that I am a member.
4. I believe that you had best re-read the rules covering Extraordinary
General meetings and the role of the Executive.
5, If a decision is made behind closed doors, then it should be taken to the
majority of members and if they are in agreement it can then, and only then,
be acted upon.
