Greetings all from sunny Perth (boring isn't it?)
OK John. Tell me please what is the Cornish for 'Hullo, how are
you???'. I want to surprise our number one bard when we meet on Tuesday
night. He has started Cornish lessons at our meetings.
Had the most wonderful afternoon yesterday attending for the first time
a Welsh hymn Festival (can't remember the Welsh words, the first one
ended in 'fa' and the second word was 'ganu'.) It was stupendous.
There were a number of Cornish people in the congregation (church was
packed to the ceiling) and I haven't sung with such gusto for years!
Hymns were alternately sung in English and Welsh and began with the
Welsh National Anthem sung in Welsh - the rafters rang! They nearly
came down when we ended the session with "Mine eyes have seen the
Glory". I was sitting next to a lady who spoke Welsh but didn't know
the alto line in the music so she followed my alto while I followed her
Welsh!!! Spine-tingling stuff. Hope Gwennap Pit will be as good.
Cheers
Pat
