Richard may have been "married" to Harriett ROGERS. Often the
"housekeeper" was something a little bit more!

In the 1881 census, Harriet ROGERS is in Camborne as a widow, and the
younger children have become Eliza Emma (15), Richard (13) and George
(8) HAMILL. Her elder daughter Angelina is still a ROGERS.

If you haven't found it yet, Richard is in 1841 census in Madron
with parents & siblings on Adelaide Street.
James (60-64), clerk & Ann (55-59) with James (29), shoemaker;
Richard (27), shoe maker; Philip (25) tailor; Grace (23), John (19),
William (17). Surname transcribed as HAMMILL. Also in the house, 3
month old Jane ROWE and 82 year old Jane HOSKING.

Toronto, Canada
