Esq., surgeon to the Forces, Sierra Leone.
At Madeira, on the 1st of February, James Duff GORDON, Esq., of that Island, to Catherine
Charlotte, eldest daughter of the late Dr. CARNE, of Charles Church, Plymouth, and niece of
Joseph CARNE, Esq., of Penzance.
DEATHS
At the Royal Cornwall Infirmary, on Tuesday last, after only two days' illness, Henry Montague
PHILLIPPS, Esq., aged 50 years. He filled the situation of Resident Assistant Surgeon at the above
Institution, where he had previously received his professional education under his parental friend,
Mr BULL, for twenty-five years; with how much credit to himself, and advantage to the afflicted
inmates, it is in vain to attempt to describe. He was not less the kind friend than the skilful surgeon;
and, under his soothing care, the wards of a hospital wore the appearance of a comfortable home.
This meek and most amiable man was taken at a time which no one thought of to his everlasting
reward. He lived prepared to die.
At Truro, on Friday last, the infant child of Mr BRITTAN, manager of the Truro Bank.
At Truro, on Monday last, of consumption, Henry Martyn, third son of Mr. Edward CROSSMAN, aged
23 years.
At Falmouth, on Tuesday last, the wife of Mr. E. DUNNING, baker, &c., aged 30 years.
At Breage, on Tuesday last, John DYKE, Esq., aged [?63, ?83] years.
At Cardrew, near Redruth, on Monday last, Louisa, youngest daughter of the late Mr Peter PHILLIPS.[Not Leslie]
At Treslothan, in the parish of Camborne, on the 23rd ult., John, son of Mr. Samuel WHEAR, aged 4
years.
At Hayle, on Sunday last, Mr John BLEWETT, aged 87 years.
At St Ives, on the 28th ult., Mr John QUICK, aged 86 years.
At St Just in Penwith, on Wednesday, the 26th ult., Mr Gabriel THOMAS, aged 69 years; Mrs.
MARTYNS, relict of the late Capt. MARTYNS, of Botallack mine; and Mr Richard OATS.
At Chyandour, near Penzance, on Tuesday last, Phillippa, wife of W. BOLITHO, Esq., aged 76 years.
At Bellair, Penzance, on Tuesday last, after a short illness, Anne Borlase, eldest daughter of the
Rev. M. N. PETERS, vicar of Madron.
At Regent Terrance, Penzance, on Friday last, Fanny Elizabeth, youngest daughter of the late
Joseph WILLIS, Esq., of Yorkshire, aged 21 years.
At Cury Church-town, on Saturday last, Miss HENDY, aged 31 years.
At Ruanlanyhorne, on the 24th ult., beloved by all who knew her, Mrs Mary RICHARDS, Innkeeper,
aged 75 years.
At St. Just in Roseland, on the 25th ult., Mr Robert WOODWARD, farmer, aged 62 years.
At St Mawes, on the 24th ult., Mr John PAINTER, mason, aged 79 years; and on the 28th ult., Mrs
Jane LOWRY, aged 59 years.
At Ladock Rectory, on Monday last, Amelia, wife of the Rev. James JARMAN, late of Mark, in the
county of Somerset, aged 79 years.
At Holmbush, near Charlestown, on Friday last, Mr. N. BROWNE, aged 36 years.
At Lostwithiel, on Friday last, the wife of Mr. T. GEACH, currier; and, Mark MARKS, tanner, aged 73
years, for fifty-nine of which he was in the employ of the Messrs. FOSTER, at that place.
At Mevagissey, on the 20th ult., Miss Louisa PEARCE, niece of John PEARCE, Esq., aged 20 years.
At St. Teath, on Monday last, the wife of Mr John HOCKIN, aged 73 years.
