Hello April
You say that on Henry Hocking's marriage certificate he gives Truro as his place of birth........ It is usually place of residence at time of marriage which is given. This can be completely different to place of birth if the family or the person getting married moved away from their birth place/parish.
Best regards

I have just recived information from Val that HENRY HOCKING birth is
registered on Free BMD as being registered at LAUNCESTON March
quarter 9 163.
On his marriage certificate 6/6/1865 Southampton, he claimed Truro as
his birthplace. That could have been a genuine mistake but it has made
things difficult to find his parents. The marriage certificate says his
father was RICHARD HOCKING.
Can anyone please help me further to locate Henry's parents. Maybe they
are in your family line too?
Thank you and kind regards.
April New Forest.
