Hello boys and girl's, do think that it is time for a roll call...... below
is my line.... Chuck and Jane you don't have to ans. as yours is the same
unless you can add to this...

ALSO! Please be very careful in your "tone" of voice in replying to
queries on this or any of my lists.... I will NOT allow sarcasm.

We need to make a list of all the Johns and who they belong to and what
era... any takers?

Thanks and have a great day....Jeannie <><

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN1 CORNWELL was born Abt. 1745 in of Black Water, Isle of Wight, VA,
and died Abt. 1780 in ,,VA.. He married MARY ANN BUCKNER 15 May 1763 in
Black Water, Isle of Wight, VA, daughter of PEYTON BUCKNER and MARY SEALE.
She was born 10 June 1750 in Pr. William Co., VA, and died Abt. 1819 in
Culpepper/Fauquier, VA..

Notes for JOHN CORNWELL:
Information on this family from the LDS FHC. I have the deed of land from
Mary Ann Cornwell to grandson George Blake and the will of Mary Ann.
John's origins are murky, but there is a record of an Isle of Wight county
marraige (1763) between a John Cornwell & a Mary Ann Buckner...even though
they are more closely tied to Fauquier & Prince William counties.
There are several John Cornwells in the records of the Blackwater Swamp
Community on the boundary of Surry & Isle of Wight counties at about the
proper time, but the proof needed for a tie hasn't jumped out at me yet.
The best candidates appear to have been living in the area late in the 1780s
after we think Ann Buckner's John had met his demise, could they have
seperated and Ann gone North and he stayed behind? chuck
....some information from Patty Phillips....... and Scott
Kendall........also unproven by me..........
MANY THANKS to Mr. Charles Carter of VA for finding the information on the
Cormwells in the first place!......... and all he has contributed to this
line. jd <><

George was in the war of 1812 for VA., 28th infantry. Have military

Martha Crump...........Martha said that he had been married twice before,
first to
Drucilla Adkins and second to Nancy Leggett. Nancy is listed on the
1850 census, but is dead by the 1860 census as Martha is listed as his
wife....He is listed on the 1860 tax book from Nicholass Co., KY
with 1 levey, taxed $1.50..his death is listed in the Locust Grove
Baptist Church membership book as dying Apr 1878, he joined the church
in 1854.......George married his 2nd wife Nancy LEGGETT, she was a
member the this church by "Experience" in Dec 1853, she died in Sept
1857....he then married Martha CRUMP...As far as I know there was no
children by the 2nd & 3rd marriages.....

More About GEORGE BLAKE:
Burial: February 1878, ,Nicholas, KY.

Notes for NANCY LEGGETT:
IS Nancy the mother of these children or do they belong to Drucilla Adkins?

iv.THOMAS BLAKE, b. 1795, ,,VA..

Notes for THOMAS BLAKE:
Listing Thomas E as the son of Thomas is purely spectulation on my
part.
