Sandra,
That name sounds familiar, however I am work and will have to get my
files at home to check it out. As for one of her children being born in
Wake Co. NC (Raleigh), tobacco was about the only economy in VA through the
18th century and exhausted the capabilities of the soil to produce anymore
tobacco (our early farmers did not know the value of crop rotation), thus
many Virginians relocated to eastern NC where land was still good and
tobacco was the economic mainstay. You might email the NC Archives at
and ask them to check the available birth
records for Wake Co. at that time. Basically the entire southeast was
settled by the promise of free land if families were willing to relocate.
Good luck, if I have anything I will let you know. Danny Couch

> Looking for Fanny Couch b. in VA ca 1780-85, m. John Samples started
having children around 1800 (several kids born E TN - Blount Co, Green Co
area) There is a question of one of the kids being born Wake Co,,NC but can
find no evidence of why she would be there.

several of their children.
