Audine,
Thank you for the kind words about my book. Although it has been only a
year the book on the website is really ancient history now. Since that
draft, I have put much more into the book (perhaps too much) and it now
measures 21/2 inches thick and about 500 pages. And I certainly am not
through if I can just somehow breakthrough and nail down the Virginina
Couches from whom I descend and their line back to Cornwall England or
elsewhere.
Margaret "Peggy" Couch does not ring a bell just now. There were James and
Capt John Couch in Buckingham County, VA who had some of their relatives
settle in Eastern Kentucky. In Hyden, the hometown of famous quarterback
Tim Couch I found a telephone direcory that featured a full page of Couches.
So, Peggy's folks could posibbly be of this clan. Dr. Richard Couch of
Tulsa, OK has done a terrific job of researching this line. Some of his
folks went to Kansas and worked for the railroads there. I have his CD
featuring this family in Kansas that originated with James and John Couch of
Buckingham County, VA.
One of my kin, Joseph Elijah Couch and his folks went into Georgia and then
into East Tennesssee. Laater many of the folks of Joseph Elijah Couch went
to Missouri and fathered a passal of Missouri Couches. In fact, one source
showed that outside the south, Missouri had more Couches than anywhere else
in the 1800s. Robert W. Couch of Marceline, MO has done a tremendous job of
identifying the descendants of Joseph Elijah Couch and their settlement in
Missouri. So, it is possible that Peggy could have been one of this line.
I have Robert's address. He is not on the internet.
Please keep in touch. It is always so encouraging to have someone contact
me about my book. Thanks
Robert Hill Couch
