Hello Mary
There were two Austin Couch persons, was was in era of John Couch and a tad
older. He was a pathfinder. Very small info is noted about him in Dickey
Diary, which I might ad is a good reference only. Dont trust the info as it
was taken from "rumor" also lore and some facts. Never the less. its
invaluable to futher research. As for Mary no one knows for sure who she was
or if she ws a real person. She is not documented in the kentucky Couch line
by hard copy evidence. She comes into being in internet research. Which as all
know is not totally right. It depends on who posts the info to the various
places.
There were so many John Couch in NC/VA area its hard to say which one indeed
may have been with a Mary Polly.
The documentation for the John Couch line of kentucky and the family of
Elizabeth James dont support the "Boone" theory. There was no supporting
evidence on it prior internet. And even the Boone research group dont support
it. Its only due to no valid documentation. The dates for a "Mary Polly" dont
line up with any tome frame even close for a John of kentucky connection. and
thus that is why it was dropped, from re-union files and records.
As ive siad its very possible another John Couch.
If you look at this you will see the dates dont line up
North Caroline Marriage Bonds
1741-1868
Bride: Elizabeth Campbell m2
Groom: John Couch no prior
Bond date 02 dec 1783
County: Orange
record: #01-096
Bond #: 000096011

As for where the Boone lady is buried, Im not sure if any know, as I have not
seen info on it. I know for fact she is not buried in KY nor is she buried
with John
Although alot claim the Boone line via internet files, its just not there if
one really looks into the matter. And searches historical books and archives.

Austin Couch sr would be a worthy search, as its said he was same timeframe
as settlement. Not much appears to be known about his line. although there is
a Austin later in line.
NOW for some interesting info Austin Couch
His name was Austin J Couch. I highly wonder if the "J" could stand for JOHN
and thus be the one that possible had a Boone connection?
It was known he went KY prior Boone on Boones instructions. And thus came back
and apparenty went with Boone and others to kentucky.
The museum of Westward Expansion in St Louis Mo has some record of Austin.
When Boone moved form Kentucky, it was Austin that first went to Missouri and
came back with reports. The records show D.Boone coming and settling in what
is now known as Defiance Missouri where he died in 1820.
Records indicate Austin Couch was in party with the Boone move and did in fact
have land in MO. {St Charles Co} It was then Spanish Rule, He was given a
land grant that was later nulled.
Now Im thinking this Austin COuch did indeed know the family well and its
very possible he is the one that had connection to a "Mary" Boone if there
was one.
Note Austins middle name of "John"
All theory, but alot sort of points that way.. At least historical archives
