Bob, Bill & All,
The Thomas Couch that married Genney Nelson Sept. 13 1793 in Orange Co.
NC, that is the Thomas that was the son of Old Thomas of Enoree SC. This
Thos. that married Genney Nelson is the one that died in 1828 in Orange Co.
NC with a substantial amount of land holdings. He had sons inc. Thomas Jr.
and of course Hardin, Jacob Bull, Issac, William and quite a few daughters
too. There are no Nelsons on the land grant map of Orange Co. NC so Genney
Nelson must have been from SC.
Does anyone know if there are Nelsons in the Spartanburgh and
Greenville Districts of SC 1750-1780?
The John that served as "best man" must be the John Couch that is in the
1790 census of NC. John is not there in the 1800 census. Danny Couch
