Good Morning!
I have a cousin who is a member of the DAR & will try to search
for documentation on Sarah/Sally couch's birth, but has in her
records that John S. Bowling, III(s/o Rev Jesse Bowling & Mary
Pennington) did marry Polly M. Lewis(the d/o Sarah/Sally Couch
& James Lewis, II(Jr).
Sarah/Sally Couch was "supposedly" a d/o John Couch & A Mary Polly
Boone.
My cousin said that it might be a couple of days before she could get back
to me, but to be patient.
It is really from Rev Jesse Bowling & Mary Pennington's son-
Justice Bolling- that is really my line, but Sarah/Sally Couch
crosses into other my lines as well.
Have A Nice Day!
Gerri
Thanks Gerri !
I run John Couch/Mary through the D.A.R/S.A.R and the 2nd cont/line NC
And the Va/cont/line for service
Only Johns showing or in D.A.R files is ones in CT and documented to not
be the ones related to NC
I then run John through the Military records center and again nothing
found..
So back to the Loyalist people and also the property siezed from
loyalists. nothing
I added John,s/Mary,s children {sarah sallie} to see if any claim
might have been made by them or for recognition in some sort.
Nothing has been found.
The Lewis line did have ancestors that served and I think {will have
later to check files} they had one proven D.A.R accepted memember.
You can go to the D.A.R site {national} and submit any ancestor to see
if they have service, or you can call {if you are a DAR member.
I have both went to a local DAR center,as well as did the national web
submission.
Soooo we are stuck at present , with a fable John was a 500 lb wagon
driver in Washingtons Army, which is so highly unlikely.
Time frames dont match up...at 500 lbs he would be unable to climb up on
a wagon.. He was documented being in VA/NC at time of war...
And to be real honest... why "would" a Mary.. young marry a "500 lb man"
He would not be able to do the simple chores of a colonial homestead.
This part of the mystery is fable...
I havent said I dont think, I have a researcher in the field all this
week in Ashe Co/Wilkes/Surry Co and a side trip to Orange to see of
records..
Nothing major has been found.
A lead was being checked on the burial site of Mary Boone, so far
nothing has turned up. {Ashe Co}
