Hi all,
I believe I have found proof the Austin Couch in Boone County IN 1837
was from the Perry County KY Couches.
I found on the OREGON-L list where John Lewis, grandson of James T and
Sarah Couch Lewis married a woman born in Boone Co IN. So I went to the
BLM GLO records and found William Lewis (s/o James T & Sarah Couch
Lewis), John Lewis, Charles Lewis (I can't identify either of these men.
William's son John was born 1816, a bit young to be patenting land in
1834), Austin Couch, and Sarah Couch, all had land patents in townships
17 and 18 in Boone County. All these were from 1834 to 1837. Can anyone
identify Sarah Couch? Her patent was 2 months after Austin's. All but
John Lewis were in Crawfordsville Land Office. John's the only one I
saw in 1834 was out of Indianapolis Land Office.
Hope this helps someone.
Joyce
