My generation on the DNA is Larry Parr/Ruth Lee Couch/Henry J Couch/John
Coleman Couch/Samuel Couch and family tradition says his father was a John
Couch born in Virginia, but I have not proved this because there are too
many John Couchs in SC where Samuel was born.

Bill,

You are so Right! We have had a most productive year. The DNA testing let
me know that many of the Couches I had discovered throughout the country
shared a common ancestor with me (Group 5).

Please advise me. I have a note saying that if one achives a match on the
25 marker DNA test then
that common ancestor is within the past 7 generations. Is this a true fact
with DNA testing?
Since most Group 5 members who took the 25 marker test had a near perfect
match, then their common ancestor should be within the past seven
generations.

Although I did not take the 25 marker test I can only guess that my DNA
would match as well as those taking the 25 marker test. Seven generations
for me would be (not counting myself) would be Thomas and Elizabeth in
Brunswick County, VA (now Lunenburg County, VA) on Couches Creek just west
of the community of Lunenburg, VA. This is assuming that the line I have
researched is correct.

I would like to know who the seventh generation back is on those who
actually took the 25 marker test.
I would also like to know who is the seventh generation back on all other
Group 5 DNA members who only took the 12 marker test. This would assume
that they would probably match the scores of the 25 marker test takers (It
seems most who took the 25 marker test had near perfect matches).

Could the DNA officials in Texas comment on this.

Thanks for all your work and especially organizing the DNA testing. Would it
help if others of us now took the 25 marker test to better test my
hypothesis?
