Did you ever get your Civil War question answered?

I looked up both of the Couches you mentioned. I
couldn't find Meredith Jacob Couch at all.

I did find Francis M. Couch and William C. Couch from
Alabama. They both served in Co. I of the 4th Alabama
Cavalry. That is all it says. They don't have
enlistment dates or service records for either of
these men.
