The only Thomas Couch I find in 1860 Linn Co. MO close to fitting yours is:

COUCH THOMAS , (1860 US Census)
MO, LINN, 58-TWP RANGE 18, Age: 25, Male, White, Born: TN
Elizabeth, 23 b. IN
William 3
James 1

As you can see his wife is Elizabeth. Found no other Thomas that fits your
age on the other years. There is an Elizabeth in KS that looks tempting.
The two children were b. MO. 1870 does not list marital status
unfortunately. This of course does not explain where Thomas is??

KS, LEAVENWORTH, SHERMAN TWP, Age: 34, Female, White, Born: IN
Elizabeth 34, head, seamstress
James M 11, b. MO
Oscar 5 b. MO
Oliver Branham, 23 Gen. Business b. IN
John Ryan, 27 laborer b. IN

Do you have access to online images? If not, let me know offlist. I have
notes of others in Linn Twp, 1860 who were also b. TN.

it are two daughters and another boy. I know that Thomas died 13 jan 1910,
where I don't know.
