Colorado did not require death certificates until 1907 so I'm not sure that
there are any available before that date. Weld county used to have an index
up but the link has been dead for a while. I would try two places. First the
Weld County website. You would be amazed at what you can find there. The
second place would be to try and locate where the Gibson 16-Pct was. If it
was near Greeley, then if you can come up with a better date than just after
1910, The Tribune might be of help. They were started in 1871 and have as
far as I know published continuously since that date.

Finally, or maybe this should be first, check the cemetery listings on my
website
http://www.hollyhockfarms.com/coweld<http://www.hollyhockfarms.com/coweld>; I
have quite a few transcribed and listed, including many photos. Most of
these are not in the Colorado GenWeb archives Archives. Check Boulder and
Larimer Counties if you find that they were living near one of the borders.
Or of course there is Washington and Morgan counties too. Lots of places to
look before giving up. I don't have precents listed, haven't come across a
list so far of them or where they were located, but I do have old maps on my
website that might help.

I hope SKS will help me out with this. I've been all over
ancestry.com as well as the CO Archives website, but no luck. I want
death cert or at least the info on the death cert for Eldora "Dora"
May (Woods) Baxter, b April 1870 Iowa, death date unknown but last
known residence as per 1910 CO Census was Gipson 16-Pct Weld Co - also
would like death info for her husband, Frank G. Baxter b June 1868
Indiana. Would also like to know how to obtain obits for these folks.
Then there is the possibility that the Mother of Eldora "Dora" May
(Woods) Baxter, Harriet (Smith) Woods may have died in Weld Co,
perhaps 1890's, and I'd like to find a death cert and/or obit for her
also. I'm trying to determine if this Harriet (Smith) Woods and her
descendants are connected to my Smith's from Belmont Co, OH.

Is there a death index for Weld Co.? Or can someone assist me with
these searches? I don't know where to turn next - being in GA, I'm
not able to do local research.

Thanks so much for any assistance/suggestions.

Regards,
Nancy Edwards
