Kathy, this hit close to the dates of my GGGrandfather, John W. Cox, b.
1828. I have no idea who his father & mother might be. I also do not know
where he was born. He named one of his sons William and another John.
There was also a Thomas Cox who was probably born around 1880's, that at one
time lived in Illinois, so I am assuming this might be the son of one of
John W's brothers, or sons.
On the only Census that I have on John W. Cox, is 1860 Arkansas Census,
where he migrated to, and was killed in the Civil War, around 1863.
In 1870 - 1876, two of his sons were bound-out to farmers in Indiana, this
was Josephus and George W., who were 12 and 9 years old. I have no idea if
they were relatives by marriage to the Cox family or not. There names were,
John Bundy, Morgan Co., Indiana, and Howard Pike, Hendrix County, Indiana.
Would any of this connect with your Cox family?
Thanks, Janet~Texas
