Cox seems to be as generic as Jones, Smith, etc. I have also seen the
information contributed by Sue Sisk. My wife's family has a Cox from
"Battle, England". He changed his name when he jumped ship in New
Orleans in about 1810. My Cox line seems to be from somewhere else in
England. The spelling seems to be variable, even in the same same
person and in the same document.
