Just to throw a wrench into your COX-WILSON families, my grandfather, Henry
Lebo Cox b 1889 in Lawrence Co, MS, married my grandmother Mary Nancy
(Nannie) Wilson born 1889 in Lawrence Co, MS.

Henry's father, John Rufus Cox, b 1845 in Marion Co, MS, first married Emily
Wilson, my grandmother's Aunt. My grandfather was born from John Rufus's
second marriage. My first documented Cox was Jonathan/John Cox, said to have
been born 1798 in Marlboro Co/Darlington Co, SC. I know that he and his wife
Judah Hunt, traveled with the Polk family to Mississippi in the 1820s. His
father may have been a William H Cox that appears as a JP in Marion County, MS
in 1825, but I have been unable to prove that connection. There were other
Coxes in Marion Co., MS in the early 1800s, including the infamous Lorenzo
Dow Cox from Marion Co, MS.....check him out on the net!! I know my
grandfather told some of my older male cousins we were kin, but I can't find any direct
connection. If we are connected, it would have to be through a brother of
Jonathan Cox.

My first documented Wilson was Jonathan Wilson, said to have been born in
Amite Co, MS in 1810. His father may have been Jesse Wilson who traveled with
his wife Elizabeth Cook from GA to MS in 1810....they came thru Indian
territory and that is documented.

So looks like those Coxes and Wilsons were also marrying in
Mississippi.....would suggest that Louisana Coxes or Wilsons may also come from this line as m
any of my ancestors did live in LA.

Any help on my road blocks would be greatly appreciated.
