Lee - One of my Barnhouse relatives back in Ohio said she heard that a
character in "Centennial" was based on my great grandfather, Ira Morgan
Barnhouse who homesteaded near Abbott in Washington County. I have been
trying not to pass on this rumor until I read the book. So I've let the
cat out of the bag and still I haven't read the book. All the more
reason to get it off the shelf and get to readin'. I'll pay close
attention to the Grebe characters.
By the way, another great grandfather, C.M. Sears, moved to Long Beach
CA from Washington County in 1930. I've always suspected, but don't
know for sure, that he was a dust bowl escapee. An Okie from Colorado
you might say.
