Dear Betty,
Thanks for your reply! Hopefully you can shed some light on my Solomon
Crawford. Here's what I have on Solomon.
Solomon and Rebecca Crawford came from Georgia to Alabama during the early
1820's. Rebecca was born about 1779 in North Carolina. She was a Mrs.
Stevens (widow) when she married Solomon Crawford in 1805 or 1806 in (?)
Henry County Georgia. She is found as late as 1860 in the Conecuh County
Alabama Census. I can find Solomon in the 1830 Conecuh County Census, but
not in the 1850 Census, or the 1840 tax lists. There was a Solomon Crawford
born in 1839 in Shelby Co. Alabama ( possibly grandson and name sake?)I have
followed Solomon back to Jefferson County Georgia as early as 1802, where he
was awarded 182 acres in the Land Grant of 1817, had to be at least 21 years
old to receive the grant, was also listed as being eligable for a draw in
the land grant of 1805. I am assuming that he was born between 1775 and
1785. He is also listed on the 1802 and 1805 Jefferson County Georgia Tax
Digests.
His children were as follows:
Seaborn Crawford born about 1814 or 1815 in Georgia
shown on 1850 Conecuh County Census as age 35
married to Frances Salter. Children include
Amanda
William
Norvell Moore Crawford
Rhoda Salter Crawford
Seaborn Pinkney Crawford
Sarah Rebecca Crawford
Hickman Alexander Crawford
John Eddy Crawford
Mary Ida (Mollie) Crawford
William Crawford born about 1808 in Georgia (Twin) Married to ? Sarah Ann
Dooley 20/08/1832 Children include:
Elizabeth
Amelia
Charles
William Benjamin Crawford
Jordan
Anderson
Hamilton Lee Crawford
Benjamin Crawford born about 1808 in Georgia (Twin), Married ot Mary A.
Children include:
Satyra
Sarah
John S. Crawford
Bryant Crawford
Caroline Crawford
Benjamin William Crawford
Bryant Crawford married Nancy Jane Atkinson 12-24-1839
Norvell Moore Crawford. married Riabah J. Atkinson
Does anybody know who Solomon's parents were?
Thanks for any information anybody can share.
