I saw your message, and I have a James Monroe Crawford in my line,
though I do not know if ours are one and the same or not. Mine was
married to Cynthia Ann Glenn. But since you said yours had a prior
marriage, maybe they could be the same person. Let me know if we have a
connection, or if anyone else has a connection. It has been a while
since I've posted any messages. Below is a copy of my information from a
previous posting (a long time ago), which can also be found on my

I do not have any information on James Monroe Crawford's parents, and I
am interested in finding them.

My grandfather was Henry Lee Crawford, b. 8/20/1901 in Steve, Yell Co.,
AR; d. 9/25/1925 in S-51 submarine accident off coast of Block Island,
NY. His parents and siblings were:

Isaac Wilson Crawford, b. 10/02/1875 in AR; d. 5/14/1948 in Fort Worth,
TX. On 9/27/1896, he married Mary Elizabeth Orrell (b. 8/21/1879 in AR;
d. 12/23/1932 in Ardmore, Carter Co., OK) in Perry Co., AR. (It's a
little confusing about Yell Co. and Perry Co. My grandfather was born in
Steve, which is listed as being in Yell Co., yet I have seen other
documentation that Steve is in Perry Co. !?)
Isaac and Mary's children were:
Judith (Judy)- have no dates for her; first husband was Jesse Daniel
West; second husband was John Burns.
Henry Lee (my grandfather, who was called Jerry- don't know why yet)
Mack M. (Mathis)- b. 6/6/1904; d. 1/14/1926 of tuberculosis
James Clayburn (Clebert)- b. 4/9/1907; m. Oct or Nov 1931- don't know
wife's name; d. 9/28/1933 of typhoid
Effie- b. 9/19/1908?, m. Charles Duvie Love in May 1932
Lorena (Lorene)- b. abt. 1911
Ray- b. abt. 1914
Clarence- b. abt. 1917
Blanche- b. abt. 1920

Those of you who have seen my home page will know that my family has
lost contact with these Crawfords since 1932 and have had no idea where
they were until recently. Through some people finding my home page, I
made contact with some of my grandfather's cousins, one of which had the
address for his youngest sister, Blanche! I hope to be able to get more
Crawford information from her.

One of the cousins gave me one more generation on the Crawfords. Isaac
Wilson Crawford's parents and siblings were:

James Monroe Crawford- b. 5/31/1850 in Lawrence Co., AR; m. 12/26/1869;
d. 11/01/1905 in AR.
Cynthia Ann Glenn- b. 12/30/1850 in Saline Co., AR; d. 5/20/1938 in AR.
James William- b. 10/02/1871 in Steve, Yell Co., AR; m. 11/06/1898 in
Steve to Nancy Ann Green; d. 9/15/1950 in Plainview, Yell Co., AR.
John Burton- b. 3/11/1873 in Steve; m. 11/24/1895 in Perry Co., AR to
Lizzie Blythe, then to Leona E. Keener; d. 1/2/1931
Isaac Wilson (dates above)
Joseph P.- b. 6/24/1878; m. Blanche?; d. 1968?
Robert G.- b. 1/24/1881; d. 1971?
Grover Cleveland- b. 7/16/1885 in Steve, AR; m. 1901? to Minnie
Gallion; d. 11/24/1911 in Mt. Tabor, Cedar Glades, Garland Co., AR
(I have more info on Grover Cleveland's children if anyone is
interested.)

Tuscaloosa, AL
Jefferson Crawford- b. 3/25/1891 in Steve, AR; m. Rosie Adams; d.
1981?
