I have just recently found that several CRAWFORD men who I think are brothers
of my Robert Foster CRAWFORD, went to Panola County, Tx from Pike County, GA
in the 1850's. They are Vincent CRAWFORD, born about 1816 in Abbeville
District, SC, James CRAWFORD, born about 1801 (1809?) in Abbeville District,
and Andrew CRAWFORD, born about 1815 in Abbeville. There was another Andrew
in Panola, born abt. 1798, but I think he is of a different line. My Robert
Foster CRAWFORD, was born about 1795, probably in Abbeville and came to
Nacogdoches County from Pike Co, GA in abt. 1853 with his daughter Sarah
Elizabeth and her husband Dr. John Daniel Martin. I know my Robert F was
connected to them in some way from this listing of a deed record: Robert F,
Andrew, James, and Joseph CRAWFORD, et al sell to Vincent CRAWFORD, 1844, Deed
Book K, Pike County, Georgia, page 297. I have not been able to find this
deed yet but I am hoping it will clear up a lot of things. The Joseph
CRAWFORD mentioned here stayed in Pike Co, GA.
