When I find a date when an ancestor was born, married, died, migrated, or
whatever, it really helps me to look at a map of the area at that time. It
reminds me how brave my ancestors were who set off into uncharted
territories. It reminds me of the possible isolation and danger they
incurred, and the independence required of them to survive. Funny, I hated
geography in school. If you like old maps too, for this or any other reason,
