I have no known connection to this Crawford family.

This is not going to be a great help to you, but will at least give you
something to work with:

The 1880 census shows G. S. or L. Crawford, age 28, self and parents born
Ohio, as head of household. Siblings enumerated that census year were
sisters Lucinda, age 23, Hester, age 18, Nancy, age 16, and Clara M. Harris,
age 20, all born in Indiana. The household next door was the family of WH
Crawford, age 32, self and parents also born Ohio.

1870 Allen County, Indiana - Aboite Township - PO Randau? - June 28, 1870 -
page 153
31 - James Crawford, age 52; Farmer; $3100/700; born Ohio
Rachel, age 46; Keeping house; born Ohio
Henry?, age 22; works on farm; born Ohio
George L. or S., age 18; works on farm; born Ohio
John T., age 16; at home; born Indiana
Lucinda, age 13; at home; born Indiana
Rachel, age 11; at home; born Indiana
Clarra, age 8; at school; born Indiana
Ester, age 7; born Indiana
Nancy, age 5; born Indiana
Elsa, age 3; born Indiana

I believe the Henry listed above is the same as the WH Crawford who was
living next door to the GS or GL Crawford in the 1880 census. I also
believe that Ester and Hester are the same person.

1860 Allen County, Indiana - Aboite Township - PO Ft. Wayne - June 20,
1860 - page 641
1 - James Crawford, age 38; Farmer; $1800/40; born Ohio
Rachel, age 33; born Ohio
Sarah AD, age 14; born Ohio
Henry, age 11; born Ohio
Eliza J., age 10; born Ohio
Mary, age 7; born Ohio
George, age 6; born Ohio
John, age 5; born Ohio
Lucinda, age 3; born Indiana
Rachel, age 1; born Indiana.

The above two census entries give conflicting information as to when the
family moved from Ohio to Indiana. If the 1870 census is correct, they were
in Indiana when son John was born ca 1854-1855. If the 1860 census is the
correct one, they were in Indiana between 1855 and 1857.

After much aggravation and checking the fifty or so James Crawfords who were
indexed as CRAWFORD in 1850 Ohio, I finally found him indexed as James
CRADFORD! on the wrong page in Washington Township, Hardin County.

1850 Hardin County, Ohio - District 49, Washington Township - August 12,
1850 - page 178
949 - James Crawford, age 28; Farmer; (no property value indicated); born
Ohio
Rachael, age 23; born Ohio
Sarah A., age 4; born Ohio
Henery, age 3; born Ohio
Eliza J., age 1; born Ohio

My marriage resources for Ohio are limited to what is available on the
internet and subscriptions to Genealogy.com and Ancestry. In searching for
James Crawfords who married someone named Rachel in Ohio, I was able to find
only one possible match, and I believe it is likely to be the correct one:

James Crawford to Rachel Wodd - November 19, 1843 - Hardin County, Ohio

Wodd may be Wood, but I didn't find any Wood or Watt families indexed in
1850 Hardin County who looked like likely candidates for Rachel's parents.
Ditto for Crawfords - INDEXED being the key word. Sorry.

Good luck in your search,
Linda Murray
