Since my Westmoreland Crawfords are known to have arrived at Westmoreland
1801-2 per childrens' birth years, I can say that your John is not likely one
of mine. The following is the only Crawford enumerated that twp 1850:
1850 U.S. Census Pennsylvania Westmoreland Unity
Roll: M432_837 Image: 404 Page: 370
James CRAWFORD 51 PA *b abt 1799
Margaret 38, Samuel 13, Daneil 11, James 9, Mary 6, Emeline 3, George 5/12
It is my general understanding that these earlier Crawfords were northern
Irish, Scotch-Irish. Their immigration point was probably Philadelphia. There
may be more to learn about the Westmoreland Crawfords at the Scotch-Irish
mailing list archives at rootsweb.com. I'm sorry, I've only learned enough
about them to discriminate from mine, but even this much may help.
