WEAVER - Funeral services for Jewel Eloise Church Tumlin, 98, will be at 11
a.m. today, January 3, 2009, at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation
Center Chapel with Kevin Riggan speaking. The family will receive friends
one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edgemont
Cemetery Mrs. Tumlin died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at her residence. She
is survived by a daughter, Anne Hill, of Jacksonville; a son, Robert Lewis
Tumlin and his wife, Evie, of Oxford, Mississippi; four grandchildren,
Sherry Hill (Jason) Johnson, Kelly Hill (Doug) Creel, Russell Tumlin and
Steve Tumlin; 9 great- grandchildren, Jordan Riggan, Kate Johnson, Emma
Creel, Jackson Creel, Jake Johnson, Parker Creel, Hunter Creel, Sierra
Tumlin and Robert Tumlin; and a niece and nephew.
Pallbearers will be Don Brown, Robert Tumlin, Jordan Riggan, Doug Creel,
Jason Johnson and Chip Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Symmes,
Howard Hatten, Mary Edwards, Anna Poole, Eveyln Thompson, Janice Hunt,
Glenda Patterson, Eva Lee Crowe and Linda Levens. Mrs. Tumlin was preceded
in death by her husband, Lewis H. Tumlin; her infant son, Howard L. Tumlin;
her parents, James Hubert Church and Sarah Palmer Church; brothers, Floyd,
Ernest, Alfred, Jim, Harold, Phillip and Cecil; sisters, Mary Magdalene,
Anna Elizabeth (B.I.), Edna Jo and Era Mae; a great- granddaughter, Mattie
Elizabeth Creel and a son- in-law, Ed Hill.
Her husband, Lewis H. Tumlin, was a former member of the Alabama House of
Representatives in Montgomery. Her maternal grandfather, Reuben Michael
Palmer, a cabinetmaker, came from Lancaster County, Pa. to Anniston, Alabama
in the 1800s when he heard someone named Noble was building a town, then
known as "Annie's Town" later as Anniston. Paternal grandfather, Alexander

Mrs. Verlon Creel Register Pridgen of Fadette passed away on Friday, Jan. 2,
2009 at her home after a short illness. She was 83. Funeral services are at
10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at Sorrells Funeral Home chapel in Slocomb
with the Revs. Johnny Strickland and Wendell Holmes officiating. Burial will
follow in Fadette Assembly of God Church with Sorrells Funeral Home of
Slocomb directing. Mrs. Pridgen was a member of Fadette Assembly of God
Church for a number of years and later attended New Teamon Baptist Church.
She was born on February 2, 1925 in Geneva County to the late Dewey William
Creel and Cleopatra Smith Creel.
Her husbands, William Hubert Register and Joe Pridgen, as well as two sons,
William Glenn Register and Dewey Ellis (Buster) Register, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William Avery (Bill) and Anne
Register of Slocomb; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and David Harris of
Slocomb; two brothers, Milton Creel of Panama City, Fla., and Robert Creel
of New Brockton; two sisters, Edith White of Columbus, Ga., and Betty Lois
Farbee of Idaho; seven grandchildren, Dana Chavis and Michael Forrester of
Slocomb, Connie and Gary Brown of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Michael and Jada
Harris of Waldorf, Md., Teresa and Glenn Reeder of Slocomb, Terry and Andra
Register of Houston, Texas, and Kim Register of Houston, Texas; 16
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

MOUZON, Vanessa The relatives and friends of Mrs. Vanessa W. Mouzon and
those of her beloved husband, Mr. Marvin Mouzon, Sr., those of her parents,
the late Mrs. Louise Creel Waters and Mr. Holman Waters; those of her
children, Mr. Marvin Mouzon, Jr., and little Miss Cree'a Mouzon; those of
her siblings, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann (Timothy) Ellerby and the late Mrs. Estella
Pryor; those of her aunt, Ms. Thelma Creel; those of her brothers and
sister-in-law of Mr. Tyrone (Alexis) Mouzon, Sr., Mrs. Jacquetta (Mohammed)
Tarchouni, Mr. Maurice Smalls, Sr. and Mr. Darryl (Cindy) Smalls, Sr. and
those of her nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends are
invited to attend her home going celebration on Friday, January 2, 2009,
11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 4448 Rugheimer Street, North Charleston,
SC; Rev. Eugene Peyton, Pastor. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial
Gardens, North Charleston, SC. Mrs. Mouzon will repose this evening in the
Leroy W. Hilton Memorial Chapel at Hilton's Mortuary from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Memorial messages

Patricia Ann Vernon Bell, 61, of Dover passed away on Tuesday, December 30,
2008. Born in Lenoir County on August 5, 1947, she was the daughter of the
late Jack and Carrie Mae Thompson Vernon. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her brothers, Roosevelt Quinn, Leslie Quinn, Felix
Quinn, Robert Earl Creel and Harden Tyndall. Mrs. Bell was employed by
Hampton Industries and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and aunt
who enjoyed crafts, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Samuel Bell of the home; daughter,
Rhonda Lynn Rouse of Hugo; son, Gerald Maurice Rouse Jr. and wife Christy,
of Beaufort; sisters, Gladys Grace Neal of Dover, Della Mae Jones and
husband Dennis, of Raleigh and Christine Casey and husband Charlie, of
Kinston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7
p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2009 in the chapel of Howard-Carter Funeral Home
with the Reverend Ray Vernon officiating. Visitation will follow the
service. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009
at Rainbow Church Cemetery, Snow Hill. Funeral arrangements by Howard-Carter
