B. D. "Jack" Creel, 85, of Panama City, FL passed away Friday, Jan. 16,
2009, at a local hospital.
He was born in Ariton, Ala., and had lived in Panama City since 1937. Jack
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and played semi-pro baseball in his
younger days. He was a superintendant at Sikes Concrete Pipe Company for 30
years.
Jack was very active in Little League, Jr. Major League and fast-pitch
softball, as a player, coach and umpire, for more than 50 years. He was a
longtime faithful member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church and a
charter member of the Oakland Terrace Men's Club.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Joanne E. Creel, in 2004.
Survivors include his children, Jack and Sue Creel and Kathy and Mike Dykes;
and his grandchildren, Jason and Kelli Walsingham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at the
Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2403 Harrison Ave.
Panama City, Fla. 32405 with Dr. John Brannon officiating. A private family
interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
