The Valley Of Renewal
Devotional Passage:
Ezekiel 37:1-10
Now Read:
Joshua 3-4
Mark 13:1-13
"Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and
say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the
Lord. Ezekiel 37:4
Imagine how the people of Kosovo felt when they were
forced from their homes and villages.
Imagine what it was like for them to be left with
nothing, living in an alien land.
Ezekiel and his people felt similar feelings when, in
a series of deportations, they were forced from their
homes and taken away to Babalonia. Their total loss
was made worse because their own sins had caused their
miseries. They doubtless wondered if they could ever
be useful to God again. Through Ezekiel, God loudly
said yes.
God gave Ezekiel a vision of a valley strewn with dry
bones that symbolized seemingly hopeless Israel. hen
He made those bones live again before Ezekiel's eyes;
God would forgive the Israelites, return them home,
and use them again. This was indeed a valley of
renewal.
When we repent from causing some loss of useless, we
can remember Ezekiel's encouraging valley. God will
say yes to us also. He wants to forgive us and return
us to effectiveness and joy.
Lord, help me to want to find Your forgiving love.
