Hi All

Though you will say, "I don't have dementia," stop and think a
moment if someone in your family may be experiencing forget-
fullness you have attributed to aging.

Some of you know I was falling down the stairs fairly regularly.
Also I was breaking my toes at least once a month. My feet
didn't seem to be able to follow walking commands sent by
the brain. ( not being able to walk and chew gum isn't a joke
anymore). I'd had all kinds of blood test, x-rays and mobility
test with nothing found.

I finally got into a neurosurgeon. He asked me to walk heel to
toe and couldn't do it. Also couldn't stand on one foot. My legs
and feet were totally numb by this time and my feet burned like
fire constantly. This we knew was peripheral neuropathy, but
from what?

Homocysteine level testing and another test, I don't remember
the name of, was ordered. Results...severe Vit B and Folate
deficiency like it tells of in this article.

How did I get into this condition? I have had Crohn's Disease since
I was 10 years old, though it wasn't diagnosed until I was 19 when I
was having my appendix removed. This disease is an intestinal
disease where the affected gut eventually dies and is removed.
Five such surgeries prevented absorption of nutrients from food.
So, I took monthly Vit B injections. Only problem my body didn't
utilize the vit when it was inject muscularly.

Now I'm taking 1,000 mcg of Vit B 12 under my tongue (Sub-lingual )
twice a day. This way it goes directly into the blood stream.

My memory has miraculously improved. I haven't fallen in a couple
months, nor have I broken any toes. (The deficiency had destroyed
the sheath covering the nerves in my legs and feet.) Numbness is
gone from the legs but still a bit in the feet, and the feet still take
burning fits but is lessening. All this in just 2 months!!

At the time the neurosurgeon gave me the test results he told me
of the Vit B12 connection to Alzheimer's and just plain dementia.
It explained my not being able to think of words or remember how
to prepare foods I'd always cooked

The point of all this is help may be in a Vitamin bottle for someone
you know that is showing signs of dementia. Be glad to try and
answers any question you may have regarding this email.
....Lois
