Scotland to Croatia pre - 1820 sounds like something that would have
happened during the Napoleonic Wars. Did someone jump ship? Extensive
history of naval operations, Britain, and probably Croatia, too. Much
of the containment of Napoleon was focused on the Mediterranean sea, and
the British found their sailors where they could. Ask Frank when Italy
gave up northern Croatia, maybe 1798 or 1804? Some Italian peninsula
cities were held by the British and this could be true of the Croatian
coast too.
A pattern of such immigration rather than an individual looks
unlikely. What source?
