Hello Pamela and Robert,
I was trying to figure out where I mentioned Mandic but now I guess this is
Pamela's family and you were mentioning the name as it is in Lika. I have an
extensive amount of material on families from the Perusic area and I scanned
the surname lists on all of them to see if there were any Mandic but could
not find any. That doesn't mean they are not there, only I don't have the
name at this time.
I just received a set of beautiful pictures from another Hecimovic whose
family has a weekend house on the Mreznica River SW of Karlovac. They were
cooking bread and fish in a peka which is an outdoor brick oven. They burned
firewood down to coals and covered a pot with the coals. It looks like fun.
In the pictures the surrounding area seems very much like areas of northern
California or the Sierra foothills.
Take care, Doug
