There is a really neat story about "Aunt Tom, my 101 year old Aunt
Juliah Crocker Dickerson told me. During a business meeting at Little
Flock Baptist Church, Uncle George stood up and said "I don't know
about the rest of you men, but I am the head of my family." Aunt Tom, a
very tiny lady, stood up and said "George Crocker, you may be the head,
but I am the neck & I tell you when to turn." Aunt Juliah said Uncle
George sat down & did not say another word.

The following were buried in the CROCKER-BOREN CEMETERY in San
Augustine, CO, TX This cemetery began when Sally, a teenage daughter of
Alembert Crocker & Lucie Williams Crocker, died during the War Between
the States (1861-1865). There was no cemetery nearby so they buried her
close by the house so her mother could visit her grave. She did not
want her so far from home. This is the story my 101 year old aunt
Juliah Crocker Dickerson told me about 10 years ago. Her father, John
M. Crocker had told her this story when she was a little girl and they
would go out to Ayish Bayou to visit the cemetery. My grandfather had
new headstones placed on some of the graves before WWII and we (my
cousins) and I had eleven headstones replaced last year. This cemetery
is so far back in the woods, it has not been used since 1927, but is
kept in perfect condition.
