1. Where would you like to see the Reunion held? Why?

Williamsburg, VA is just across the James River a bit from Isle of Wight
County. Williamsburg was the capitol of VA at the time of the American
Revolution, replacing nearby James City (Jamestown) which had served as its
first capital. When Richmond became the capitol not long after the
establishment of the United States, Williamsburg was practically abandoned.
In recent years it has been restored to its Colonial condition and now
serves as a sort of time capsule from the 17th & 18th Centuries. As such
it provides a wonderful glimpse into early Colonial America. This would
make it of interest to the Northern line(s) of Crockers also since it would
be representative, not only of the southern colonies, but colonial New
England as well. So there would be interest to Crockers whose ancestors
came into America via New England as well as Virginia.

Williamsburg has hotels and convention facilities, though we may have to
compete with the President and foreign dignitaries (like the visit of
China's leader last week). I'm not sure if the prices there would be
reasonable enough for basing the reunion there.

Also, William and Mary College (I believe the oldest college in America) is
in Williamsburg. There should be much info there for research.

If too expensive, etc. at Williamsburg, I think it should be close enough
to plan, or leave time for all to visit it once or twice while back there.
Some could spend an entire week absorbing things there. Others, not so
interested in history, might be content with a day.

...

I'll complete the rest of the survey later, but for now, count Lynda and me
in wherever it is. I'm anxious to meet everyone.

BTW: There are several map printing sites including one with Lycos. Road
maps is on the tool bar for the Lycos site. I just pulled up Williamsburg
on it.

Also I just received an ad for Street Atlas USA that goes along with
Map-N-Go. Supposed to be able to print out customized maps.
