I received the following plea for help from a very dear friend of mine.
Please take a minute to see if you can help. Please pass this note on to
others in the hope that a match can be found and save a child's life!

Thanks...

BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT NEEDED

Michael Kavanaugh, the son of Nancy Marr and Mike Kavanaugh, has a rare
form of leukemia and has been rushed to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in
Houston. The doctors have told Mike and Nancy that without a bone marrow
transplant, Michael will die.

A national and international bone marrow search has been done through the
Bone Marrow Donor database and they have not been able to find a suitable
match. The doctors consider Michael and excellent candidate for
transplant
but do not have a match!

They are desperately looking for a donor. Any healthy person, between 18
and 60 could potentially save his life.

A simple blood test is all that is required to start the process. The
cost
for this initial typing could be as much as $45 and is done at your local
American Red Cross. (Some Chapters do not charge.) This process enrolls
you as a donor on the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. It is the
family's hope that each prospective donor would pay that initial cost in
the spirit of giving at this special time of the year. (Funds for those
willing to be tested and unable to pay are being raised concurrent with
this mailing.) Any and all other costs associated with further tests
would
be paid by the family. Blood type is unimportant. Any healthy person
(Caucasian) between the ages of 18 and 60 could be a potential donor.
Results from this first blood test need to be received by January 15th in
order for the subsequent screening to be done in time to save Michael.
If
you are considering this... please do it NOW. If you have any trouble
finding a suitable place for testing advise Nancy <> and she
will advise you as to the proper place in your city. She is with Michael
in Houston and active on the internet.

Mike Hensgen in Houston (713) 267-7219 or <>
will
be your point of contact. Results will be sent directly to MD Anderson
Cancer Center. It is very important to include Michael Kavanaugh's
patient
number MDACC366950 on the consent form. Anyone wanting to know specifics
regarding bone marrow transplantation can access complete information at
the following internet address: <http://www.marrow.org>;.

At this internet site there are actual stories from both the recipients
whose lives were saved, as well as from the donors. If your marrow is a
match for Michael, some of your bone marrow would be extracted from your
hip with a needle (in your own home town). Michael undergoes a similar
process as a test, weekly. YOUR BONE MARROW COULD SAVE HIS LIFE.

Please perform this random act of kindness...
