I am still looking for origins of my Elizabeth Wakefield who
married Arthur Crocker--still not sure where--Georgia or the
Carolinas most likely--before 1800. Believe they passed quickly
through TN and on to St. Clair Co IL, then Fayette, and finally,
Shelby Co IL by 1830.
The earliest Illinois marriages that I have found for Crockers
are
Rachel Crocker and Elijah Bankson Nov. 28, 1809
Sinei Wakefield and Betsey Crocker June 5, 1808
Both marriages took place in St. Clair Co. Don't know who Sinei
Wakefield is. Think Elijah went to Shelby eventually, and he is on
my Bankson tree somewhere, but not sure I can say how.
The earliest Fayette Co marriages are of my Arthur and Elizabeth
(Wakefield) Crocker's children, including Clark Crocker to Mrs. Anna
Carpenter Dec. 22, 1826 and my Gensha [sic] (should be Jerousha) to
William Hooper May 28, 1826. Marriages then move to Shelby and are
later.
Recall that someone here was looking for Constant/Crocker (with
a Wakefield tie). Have not found any real info, but for the record,
I found the following marriage:
Lavina Crocker and Jonathan Constant December 26, 1848 in Sangamon
County. Hope this is of some help to someone.
SHERRY
