Thank you for your corrections to my message. I am sincerely grateful for
your input and for the history lessons. I'm not being sarcastic... I'm
truly appreciative! I misinterpreted the earlier notes from Maurice and ML
Crocker, and didn't understand the reference to the King James (I thought
only of the bible...) but your explanation makes a great deal more sense to
me than did the earlier posts
May I suggest that the purpose of this list is to share and exchange
information, corrections, and that when one person makes a mistake it's
really helpful to have someone more knowledgeable come on and give all of
us a more enlightened view? I'm not looking for any arguments... let's keep
it friendly.
I'd like to make one correction to your letter when you refer to Anthony
as "mine." I'm a descendant of William of Barnstable, and as far as I know
at this time, no one has established any connection between "my" branch and
Anthony's of Virginia. Until sometime this past winter, I had never heard
of Anthony, Solomon, or any of the other southern Crocker line. And until
last week, I had never heard of Thomas Crocker of 1645.
I, too, have traveled in Dorset, Devon, Somerset, -- as well as in other
English counties. Almost all my ancestors came from those places to New
England in the early to mid-1600s. You have done a far better job of
studying the history of England at the time of the Reformation than have I.
Again, thank you for your help.
I apologize to you and others on the Crocker list for sending out
mis-information.
Regards,Andrea
