Hello cousins,
Snooping around the Virginia State Online Archives at:
http://eagle.vsla.edu/colonial/virtua-basic.html
I found the following document that names an Arthur Crocker and
others who are charged with selling tobacco without a license in
1639.
I was able to get the document from the archive in .TIFF format
but when attaching it to a message to several others it did not
transfer well at all. I have typed it into a text file that is
pasted below for you to examine. The format is as near as I can
get it to the original. The interesting thing is the date -- 1639,
and it places him in Cornwall, Devonshire, and Dorset at the time.
If anyone can find him in a census or otherwise it could get
even more interesting. He could be another generation back for us
or even a link between the two Crocker branches in the US.
Have fun,
Dean
