With reference to queries about descendants of Anthony Crocker:

Happy to hear from you, but I'm afraid I cannot provide much new
information. Although I've received a lot of information about the
descendants of Anthony Crocker who died Isle of Wight VA, May 5, 1693 .
only two people, Caroll Jean Crocker and Barry Crocker, have sent me
material in which the sources of their records are supplied. From their
material I can tell you only that:

A William Crocker (4th generation) and his wife Elizabeth (Wilson) had a
son James. William and Elizabeth were married 12-18-1788 (from Marriages of
Isle of Wight County VA, Pg 94 by Blanche Chapman), and son James was their
fifth child. No date of birth is given.

Crawford Crocker, son of Drury and Lucy (Barlow) Crocker, married 1st
6-22-1832, Perry County, AL.
The 1850 Census of Dallas County AL (Family 800-923, Ranscors Pct., page
202) lists Crawford Crocker, age 40, farmer, born VA; his wife, Rebecca,
age 40, born SC; son Leonard Crocker, age 7 born AL, and other children.
Leonard B Crocker, son of Rebecca and Crawford Crocker, enlisted in the CSA
1-24-1862 at Marion, Perry County, AL He served throughout the war, was a
POW in Louisville, KY, exchanged, later recaptured, and paroled 4-26-1865
in Greensboro, NC.He married Harriett (?) and was listed in 1870 census,
Perry County Al, age 30, born AL, with wife Harriett, and daughter Rhoda,
age 2 born AL. In 1900 census was listed in Perry County AL, age 57 with
wife Harriett and son Allen G (T.) age 14 born Feb. 1886, in AL

The only James T(imothy) Crocker listed was born after 1960 and I doubt you
are looking for him.
No new or additional information on Maceadonia or Henry Bethel Crocker and
his children has been received. Until more people supply information than
have so far, preparing a manuscript and indexing the material cannot be
attempted. Anthony Crocker (1) and his descendants have generated many
lines that need to be tabulated, followed from one generation to the next,
put into manuscript form, and indexed. If more people contribute the
information they have--that is, ALL of it, together with names, dates and
places of births, marriages and deaths, burial places, parentage where
known, and the sources of their data, it will be possible to trace the
lines from generation to generation.

Unless the information is forthcoming, however, I can only continue to add
queries to my files. To date the file for the Southern Crockers is
approximately two inches thick. Material from Barry and CarollJean combined
equals one full inch. CarollJean has prepared her material in manuscript
form using as many of the notes from Myrtis Handley's research (notes were
also forwarded) as she has been able to incorporate into her book. By
building on her work (which she has offered for this purpose) a complete
genealogy can be constructed... but ONLY if additional material is
forthcoming!

Responding to queries that hint a connection may have been found or seeking
information about one person -- whose name is unknown -- illustrates how
difficult the process will be unless more Crockers who are Anthony's
descendants provide required details. When (and if) they do, fitting pieces
together may take a year or more... maybe two or more. When (and if) the
manuscript is complete, my publisher usually takes another six to nine
months, from the time I first mail my manuscript, to release the book.

Of Anthony's family I've entered Generation ONE in my computer...
Generation TWO is all set to be continued ...While I await more data, I
work on a third volume of "A Crocker Genealogy" -- which carries additional
material for the lines of Crockers that descended from William of
Barnstable MA in 1639. The data in that file measures 3-1/2 inches -- and
still growing.

Strange! Dozens of southern Crockers SEEK information, yet seem loath to
share their own!
