Hello Andrea,

Many thanks for your kind and encouraging message.

The CROCKER connection is on my wife's side - in fact she has *three*
CROCKER lines as well as a CROCKFOD and a CROXFORD, none of which (as far
as we know) are directly connected - talk about confusing!!

The main one we are pursuing at the moment is a Mary Giles CROCKER who came
to Van Diemen's Land (now known as the Australian state of Tasmania) in
1829 ( we think!). She outlived three husbands, the second of which was my
wife's gt gt grandfather, and she died, age 95, in 1912.

If we have the right lass, she and her family came from Ermington, Devon.
We've checked the church register and have constucted a "provisional"
branch of the family tree going back, at this stage, to a Sampson CROKER
who married in 1748 and died in 1759.

I'll post this to the List too in case it rings a bell with anyone :-))

Best wishes,

Roy

Melbourne Australia
