Thanks BD -- (That's what we used to call my dad... his name was Burleigh
Dalton... so most people called him BD.) I am curious about the Isle of
Wight Crockers because one Anthony Crocker arrived in America in the 17th C
and named the area where he and his family lived "Isle of Wight, " even
though it's not an Isle (island) at ALL... and is entirely part of the
mainland. Can't help thinking it must have reminded him and his family of
the "motherland" somehow... and that's why they called the area that. So I
wonder if the Crockers now on the Isle of Wight off the Dorset/Devon coast
might have a family history including this Anthony... Just a matter of
curiosity...
Andrea
