Hi Lisa,
Bingo! I'm always delighted to find someone for somebody:
James Dyer 7 Crocker (James 6, James 5, James 4, Jonathan 3, John 2, William
Crocker 1 of Barnstable, MA). James Dyer 7 was born 30 Nov 1788 in
Litchfield CT, died 22 July 1861, married 1st Achsah (Nancy?) Ladd who died
in Brookfield VT 15 March 1859 age 69 yrs; James married 2d at age 70 yrs 26
Oct 1859 Betsey (Worthley) Lougee, widow of Peter Lougee, daughter of Capt.
Thomas and Elizabeth (Dow) Worthley, born Weare NH 1770. He had ten
children; seven are recorded at Thetford VT as being children of James Dyer
and Achsah, the other three are recorded to James Dyer and Nancy. It is to
be assumed that Nancy is a nickname.
As for James and Rhoda, I find James (5) Crocker (James Dyer's 7
grandfather) married 23 Feb 1757 a Rhoda Johnson of Norwich CT who died 6
Jan 1802, age 69 years. James 5 was born Colchester CT 20 Apr 1732 and died
Mansfield CT 17 May 1797, age 65.
The source for the above is James Russell Crocker's genealogy, privately
published in 1967/68, pages 50 & 86 with the following notes by the author:
"No clear record has been found of this family, but the following children
were recorded at Bolton CT as children of James except that Mary is given as
child of Jeams and Mary. A Mrs. Mary Crocker, widow, died Randolph VT, 10
Nov 1850. Revolution Pension Records #R24921 show a James Crocker who
married Mary Buckingham, bornm 1761/2, died 1846, age 85 years, daughter of
Jodediah Buckingham & Mary (Haynes). Unreferenced sources indicate that she
was a sister of Hon. J. F. Buckingham, and that James & Mary Crocker were
the parents of a son, James D. Crocker. Moved from Lebanon CT to Thetford VT
1798."
Additional Note: "Anyone having proof of the ancestry of (the above) or
additional information about them or their descendants, please contact the
author."
James Russell Crocker lists himself as 10th generation, and a great grandson
of James Dyer 7 Crocker.
I hope this is helpful to you in your search for your family history.
Best wishes,
Andrea
