Hi Carole,

Thank you so very much for sending the information about Freelove Crocker,
wife of Perez Sturtevant. Additions and corrections of this sort are more
than welcome, and I appreciate the input.

Could you please tell me if Freelove Crocker's parents were Levi 5 (James4,
Jonathan3, John2, Wm 1) and Freelove (Paine)? and where Freelove, born 1757,
was born? I find no record of her or of Perez Sturtevant in either of my
books, but as I mentioned in a previous message, a Freelove 6 Crocker, born
Washington CT, 15 Nov 1783, is listed in James Russell Crocker's genealogy
(page 49) as the 2d wife of Perez Sturtevant. Perhaps Perez's wife,
Freelove, was a granddaughter, rather than a daughter of Levi 5? The dates
would lead me to that conclusion as a possibility. If you have any data
about that, I'd be glad to learn it.

I note that JAC's record shows an age spread of about 20 years between
Freelove Crocker 6, and Peter Sturtevant who died in Castlewood, VT. Not
impossible for his second marriage... but it's possible there were other
Freelove Crockers -- as well as more than one Peter Sturtevant. Is it likely
both Peter Sturtevants would marry women named Freelove Crocker? Seems
highly unlikely.

Sometimes people hesitate to send me information that differs from what I
have found, thinking I might be offended. On the contrary, I am pleased to
receive details that make my own records more accurate and reliable and that
may help others who are seeking to trace their ancestral history. For that
reason, I'm sending both this message and yours to the Crocker List, so
others may be able to shed some light on the question, and also so they will
realize that this type of communication is important to all of us.

You've done your "homework," Carole, and I commend you. I hope you can help
clear up the confusion referred to above.
Thanks again!

Andrea
