Thank you, Michael, for your prompt response. I hope some of the Crockers
who know they are descended from William of Barnstable may be willing to
participate, and pay an equal share along with anyone else who is taking
part in this study... I wouldn't expect any one to pay for someone else...
on whichever side of the Mason Dixon they happen to find themselves. And
Crockers in England or Ireland or any other country, for that matter... and
there are many in other countries besides the United States... a goodly
number, for instance, in Canada.

While I have no problem with your priority being the Southern line(s), is it
your understanding that the DNA test can include Anthony and prove which of
the Southern lines are or are not his descendants? l admit to being a bit
dense as to the reason for the testing unless it is to prove who is related
to Anthony and who isn't. Unless Anthony and William were cousins, or even
brothers (which is probably unlikely, but no one can yet prove they
weren't), what can be determined from the test? Is it possible for some of
us in other areas of the country, and in other countries, to participate?

How would that be achieved?

And when speaking of payment, how much is charged to be a part of this
study? It would seem to me that if enough Crockers -- from anywhere in the
world -- participate, the cost per Crocker might be less than if only a few
are involved. Or am I mistaken, again?

Somehow I don't seem to have gotten in on the beginning of this subject... I
hope I don't try your patience :-) by asking for clarification.

We don't have a problem supplying the pedigree chart for the direct male
lines of descent from William Crocker. What we don't know is whether we're
related to Anthony's lines.

How do we get DNA from either William or Anthony? William's grave has never
been located, but we have proven he lived, bought property, built houses,
married, had children, and when he died had more than 200 descendants, of
whom we have records.

I hope you can explain some of this so that some of our lines may take part
in the test.

Andrea
