This is Bethel D. Crocker, son of Carey and Rebecca Benton Crocker of
Barbour County, Alabama, grandson of Drury and Lucy Barlow Crocker from
IOW, Virginia.. From his Civil War Compiled Service Records:
Bethel joined the 15th Alabama Infantry, Co F in Brundridge, Alabama on
3/15/1862. He was enlisted by Capt. George Y. Malone. He is listed as
having pneumonia in Chimborazo Hospital No. 5 in Richmond, VA from April
12, to May 1, 1862. He was listed as dying of disease on 7/2/1862. Other
military records show that he was married--but I only have her first
name--Margaret. He also had a brother who was with the 15th-John W.
Crocker who was married to Francis S. Butts. From the Civil War Records:
John W. Crocker joined the 15th Alabama Infantry , Co. F in Brundridge, AL
on March 3, 1862. He was enlisted by Capt. George Y. Malone. He was
listed as "died" on May 15, 1862. (It is thought that he died of
disease). It is unknown where he is buried--
Such a sadness for the loss of both brothers and only after a short period
of time after they joined the CSA.
