Message Board Post:

Elaine and Robin, I am a direct descendant of Alford and Pearcy Crocker.
According to our family History we have them both as being pure blood
cherokees. We have no birth date of Alford, and an 1805 birth year for
Pearcy. They had 8 children, all of whom were born in Goldsboro, NC, which
is in Wayne County. the children are as follows:
Jesse Crocker b. 1882
Zelpia Maria Crocker B. & Sept. 1826
Richard Crocker B. 1827
Curtis Crocker B. 1832
Simkpson V. Crocker B.1834
Elizabeth Amanda Crocker b. 25 April 1836
William R. Crocker b. 1838
Sarah M. Crocker b. 1842
I do know that they then moved to Illinois, where one of their
granddaughters (Nancy Layton b. 18 Nov, 1856 in Hutsonville IL, Crawford
Co.) married my ancestor Samuel Jasper Bishop. I don't knkow where to go to
verify that the familiy of Alford Crocker and Pearcy Wilson were Cherokee,
but I do know that the cherokee were the most civilized of all the Indian
tribes, and adopted a lot of the white man's ways long before the others
did. I know that at least Zelpia and Elizabeth are buried in Colorado, as
both were married to Bishops (Zelpia married Samuel Jasper's father, after
Samuel's mother passed away). I don't know the place of death of Alford and
Pearcy, or their burial sites. If you have anymore info thatn this, or are
able to expand on this due to what I've told you, please feel free to email
me at <> I am also corresponding with another
descendant of theirs, Deanna Cunningham, who is a descendant of their son
named Simpson V. Crocker. I'm always e!
ager for any info I can get. Thanks.
