Forest:
I hope to meet you sometime. I appreciate your references and information.
Your statement about Ariel dying in 1995 is ten years to early, so perhaps this would be of interest. He died just five-months and four days short of being 100.
Graveside services were held in Emmitt, Idaho honoring Judge Ariel Lionel Crowley, 18 April 2005. Born 17 Sept 1905 in Iona, Idaho. His death 13 April 2005 concluded a long life of service and personal growth. He touched many lives as he served as Judge, Assistant Attorney General of the States of Idaho and Oregon and in private law practice. He was a devoted scholar of ancient scriptures and many languages. He authored many books on various subjects, had a deep love for his family and endeared them to him by his poetry, stories, music and humor.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Daveda of 72 years, a grandaughter Shelly, two infant grandsons, and seven siblings. Survived by one sister, Alice Crowley Peterson (Elden), daughters Barbara J. Johnson (Robert), Julia M. Sorensen (Kenneth) eighteen grandchildren and over 100 great grandchildren. Loved and admired by all for his intellect, generosity of time, talents and means, devotion to his family, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, genealogical research, hearty laugh, knowledge and wisdom. Condolences and memories appreciated.
(Deseret Morning News, April 24, 2005)
Ariel was one of my father's brothers. Ariel's father began the family genealogy research in 1923, and then my father and Ariel continued the projects until Ariel's death. I visited him a few weeks before his death when he resided in a rest home, and he laid-aside a new line-of-research to converse with me and inform me of his latest genealogy discoveries. One of his colleagues referred to him as an 'indefatigable sleuth.'
I, too, submitted to the DNA testing and received my results 5 Jun 2006. I assume that the Forrest Shawn Crowley listed therein is you; and David Tyrone Crowley is the Ty Crowley of recent correspondence.
Thank you for the reference to Sue and Harold who have attended the reunions, with their email addresses.
Respectfully,
Drew Crowley
