Thank you for looking. One of the problems with researching OSTRANDER is that they reuse the same first names over and over again. I do know the limitations of the early census records. It's possible the chidren were raised by other family members, but I have no way of knowing who. The 9 year old was born in Bedford NY, not anywhere near the NY OSTRANDERs you see there. I have wondered if these children were orphaned early on, so could have been raised by other family. If any of the OSTRANDERs you found in Litchfield have children of the right age, it might be worth looking at them further. I think the exact ages aren't given that census, though, just a range. Isn't that right? If so, that approach would not get me anywhere.
