Subject: Re: [CT-CENSUS] 1790/ unknown? Ochsenkopf/ Ossencup

Grant,
I can't find anything close to this name. I tried wild card searches, the
Soundex index
and a first name wild card search, looking for any name that resembled
OSSENCUP or
OCHSENKOPF, but nothing shows up.
If he was an Army deserter, maybe he wouldn't want to be enumerated in any
census
for fear of getting caught?
Just a thought, I'm sorry I couldn't find him.

Andreas Ochsenkopf was a Hessian Soldier who deserted from The Convention
Army near the Mass - Conn Line. He is not found in the records which show the
Hessian returning to Canada. Nor is he to be found in the NY or PA census of
1790 and 1800. The surname of Ochsenkopf can take a number of different
forms. Two are shown. Would someone please check to see if this person or one
with a similar spelling can found in the census? Thank you Grant
